It is not about big memories or working at history in archives or museums. It's about the humble, private side of things, a souvenir, a piece of memory. People's memories are strangely connected with material things, remembering something without objects seems impossible, and vice-versa, there are no objects without memories. Everyday things reflect identity constructions, they offer an insight into the human being. Souvenirs, trophies and monuments are various forms of human references, but also proofs. This exhibition combines very different artists with very different positions. The one thing common to all of them is their interest in everyday things, in the difficulty to remember: a form, a face, many little mistakes, a morphology of inexactitude. They show us things in which we have stored our thoughts, things as small as our thoughts.
